The One We Wrote in the Hall music by Klaene and Arrington Copyright 1995 by As of Yet |
This instrumental closed our first album, and most of our early shows as well. It shows off the schiztophrenic side of AoY, jumping back and forth between thundering metal and trippy electric jazz... I specially remixed this track to DAT in '98 to get rid of some of the mud, but we recorded it live to cassette four-track, with only one mic on the drums --- it's supposed to sound that way! and, yes, that guitar track was recorded with the amp in the shower! |

Fictional Man music by Klaene words by Fitch Copyright 1996 by As of Yet |
This is the rockin' opener of Leave Bronx, the first
official As of Yet album. Recorded and mixed in Exile on Journal
Studios' studio A (Neal's bedroom) June-July 1996. This recording
was remastered from the original master tape directly to CD-R
by Scott at the DooWop shop in August '96, and so is not exactly
the same as the one on the album, but is in fact slightly
clearer (there were problems with the noise reduction circuitry
on the mixdown deck). The best part of this tune is Andy's bassline... |

Nine More Nights words and music by Arrington Copyright 1996 by As of Yet |
completely groovin', track 6 from Leave Bronx. This and "Broken Down" are staples of the groove portion of AoY live sets. "No, I'm not bitter...." |

Remarks of Mind words and music by Klaene Copyright 1996 by As of Yet |
The album closer, an introspective opus that goes up and down and all around. Okay, so that makes no sense. Just think of spiraling down the curved hallway of light, man... and although it kinda sounds like a cameo by John Bonham, it's just Neal. |

Fictional Man (Live) music by Klaene words by Fitch Copyright 1996 by As of Yet |
This was the last song of the only AoY Coffee Stop show to make it to tape, warts and all. This rendition of "Fictional Man" completely smokes the one that opened Leave Bronx, even with bad notes and raw sound. Quoth the liner notes from "the goofy and pretentious AoY outtake CD": Recorded live and acoustic, 14 Dec 96, by Chase Krumpelman (on his infamous Tascam424 (of Brad's Sleeping and Leave Bronx fame) at the Coffee Stop (may it rest in peace), on the evening of the release of the first-ever AoY single, "86 Miles to Chicago". Remixed to digital March 1998 from the original track tapes. |

What Is and What Should Never Be (live) words and music by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant |
No, we didn't write it. Yes, I forgot the words. No, we're not actually publishing this. Yes, it does rock. Recorded the same night as the live cut of "Fictional Man" above. Listen for the band chatter on the stage, such as andy laughing at me when i forgot to start the outro... the best performances are the ones that are the most fun... |

Broken Down words by Klaene and Fitch music by Arrington Copyright 1997 by As of Yet |
In the immortal words of Herr Klaene, "Get the STAR down!" If you haven't heard this live, then you haven't heard it. This kickin' studio version will have to suffice... |

Kung Fu Jones words by Leathers music by Arrington Copyright 1997 by As of Yet |
This tune is just plain weird. Remember, I'm your solid ground. Trivia facts: this tune originally went by the name "kristian's favorite progression"... andy wrote the lyrics in red crayon. |

Words and Lines (electric 3-piece) words by Klaene, Fitch, and Arrington music by Fitch Copyright 1997 by As of Yet |
Recorded live to 8-track, about 2pm, saturday afternoon, 26 July
1997, and mixed a few hours later, at Muppet Labs studio. This
was, in fact, the very first thing recorded after setting up the
studio. You can hear us talking before the track starts: Scott: "What should we play?" silence... Andy shrugs. Neal: "Anything, for the love of God...." We didn't bother re-recording anything, so you actually hear the rather terrible scratch vocal track. This song was intended to be an acoustic blues tune, but without Kristian around it got a little Zep-ified. Note the cameo of the homemade NastyFuzz on the leads.... Ah, those were the days.... |
