All of a sudden on the 4th and 5th of October, Elysse's gall bladder decided that it no longer wanted to be a part of her gastrointestinal system, and flared up to many times its original size. After lying awake all night, writhing in pain that refused to abate, she drove herself to the emergency room at 5AM, leaving me to watch the girls. At 8:30AM, she awoke from the morphine they'd given her long enough to call and say, "oh, hey, they're removing my gall bladder at around noon." Apparently this is a very common malady for petite women who bear multiples -- their internal organs get so squished they just don't know what to do anymore. Of course, the very first time i met the doctor, just before surgery, he said to me, "And you must be the father of those cute twins..."
