i awoke to the sound of my neighbor attempting to scrape frozen rain from his windshield, just outside my bedroom window. a lovely way to greet the day, eh? when i finally got out of the house, i discovered a winter wonderland, an alternate dimension in which all the things of our everyday world were encased in a glimmering candy shell of ice. after taking three licks to get to the toyota center of my carsicle, i found that the backstreets made for great slip'n'slide action, but the main roads were indeed fine. nonetheless, i arrived at work to find that the whole company was on two-hour delay. what? two-hour delay? what is this, grade school? i felt a little cheated... i can do a lot of sleeping in two hours. so i went to get some hot chocolate from the coffee machine (i want something warm to drink but refuse to join herr klaene and the other coffee addicts of the world). by the coffee machine stands the bulletin board for corporate communications; it said, so and so has been named new manager of ISD. on my first reading, i was completely blown away; while employees here know ISD as the Imaging Solutions Division, i've played X Wing versus Tie Fighter for much longer than i've worked here, and at first glance interpreted ISD as "Imperial Star Destroyer"... managing a star destroyer -- now that would be a cool job!
