To uphold tradition, we gave the girls cakes for their first birthday. (Admittedly, we waited until their grandparents arrived on the 27th, but what they don't know won't hurt them. :-)

In the end, Yvonne ate about half of her cake, and Zella discovered she likes the cake innards more than the icing.
