For our first vacation in a couple of years, we decided to get away to someplace exotic and not terribly crowded, which had some salt water. After a fair amount of googling, Elysse fell in love with Hotel Rodney in exotic Lewes, Delaware.
We drove all day Sunday, through nasty weather in West Virginia and, and a long, boring stretch in Maryland, to arrive at the hotel late at night. The next morning, we had breakfast in the restaurant next door, then walked down Savannah street to the public entry to the bay, about a quarter mile away. The girls found that water buckets make great fun and spent a lot of time chasing and dumping water on each other. Elysse buried Yvonne up to her neck in sand, and I helped Zella build a castle, and we all watched the tide wash it away. After that, we had lunch at the fisherman's wharf, and got rained on.
The next day featured breakfast at IHOP, a trip to the Converse outlet, and then the main course, hanging out on the Atlantic coast at Cape Henlopen State Park. We followed that up with ice cream from the shop across the street, and walked around looking at the town.
The last day, we took photos of the hotel before checkout and then drove, and drove, and drove, and drove some more to get home.
