this was my first time back to draw elysse since she cut her hair in late november. she has a very nice floppy vampy look now. fun to draw... but i do miss the expressive ponytail. this also happened to be the day after our second wedding anniversary. whee!

when i opened my battered and worn pencil box, i discovered that the scrap of newspaper in which i've kept several sticks of vine charcoal for ... oh... five or seven years does not afford its contents very much protection. in fact, just by opening the box, i got covered in charcoal dust. my only recourse was to use it up. vine charcoal is neat stuff --- very slick, very easy to draw with, and very expressive. i used it for all of the guestures from this session, which didn't need any contrast adjustment after scanning to show up properly. on the other hand, this form of charcoal is also known for its ability to be erased just by rubbing a cloth or tissue paper over the drawing. i came very close to losing these drawings altogether within just an hour or so of making them.

so, here they are, scanned for your enjoyment...
